Nio has just introduced the new EC7 and ES8 models. The presentation of the two models was held at the Nio Day 2022 event (24/12). Mutual uses the latest second generation platform that offers consumers superior design, performance, convenience, smart features, safety and security.
The EC7 SUV fills the mid-large SUV niche with a coupe design. Its performance comes from a combination of a powerful 300 kW induction motor and a 180 kWh permanent magnet motor that offers wild power while maintaining power efficiency. The EC7 can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds.
Nio claims the EC7 is an SUV with the least air resistance in the world. CoD value of 0.23 cd. The EC7 features an automatic rear wing, the first seen on the Nio model. Serves to increase downforce and maintain air flow while racing.
The coupe design feels premium. A panoramic glass roof is installed with a double-layer feature for soundproofing and heat insulation. This glass carries the third generation of electrochromic (EC), passengers can adjust five levels of density from transparent to dark to maintain private space.
Switch to ES8. Is the flagship model of the Nio electric SUV which has a carrying capacity of six passengers. The design concept uses the “Design for AD” and “Pure-Tec” languages. ES8 uses two motors with a total power of 480 kW. It can accelerate from rest to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds. Comfort comes from the integrated power brake (IPB) braking system, dual chamber air suspension and intelligent chassis controller for a comprehensive driving experience.
Regarding the interior, both EC7 and ES8 use seats with frames developed by Nio. ES8 has four exclusive seats with one flexible seat in the third row. The seats use a design that creates a zero gravity posture experience. Armrest in the second row is present as a center for arrangement and entertainment. The third row offers large storage space.
ES8 and EC7 use PanoCinema digital cockcpit technology which carries AI NOMI technology. Quality sound comes out of the Dolby Atmos sound system, ambient light, and 12. inch AMOLED screen as the center of the setting. Nio also provides AR and VR touch to provide a digital space experience for passengers.
Both models use ADB intelligent multi beam lighting technology which can project certain animations and patterns. In addition, this lighting can detect vehicles from ahead and change to minimal lighting. In addition, this lighting technology can fire alerts linked to safety technology using LiDAR and cameras.
They have also carried Nio’s latest Banyan smart system. This feature consists of Aquila, a super sensory feature using 33 point LiDAr sensors and Adam, a sophisticated computer that uses four Orin X chips.
Another sophistication, can plan a traveling route for charging. Drive to the charging station via advanced navigation and independently swap the battery and return to the route to continue your journey. The plan of this technology can be realized in the next year.
Charging improved. Nio introduces a charging station with 500 kW of power with ultra fast charging capabilities. In addition, the third generation of power swaps can serve around 40 battery exchanges per day, an increase of 30 percent from the previous generation. By charging with a current of 650A and a maximum power of 500 kW, it only takes 20 minutes to charge a 100 kWH battery from 10 percent to 80 percent.
Nio EC7 will be offered in three variants depending on battery capacity. The 75 kWh battery variant is offered at 488,000 RMB, the 100 kWh variant is offered at 546,000 RMB and the BaaS (Battery as Service) variant is 418,000 RMB. It is estimated that it will be available in May 2023 in China.
While the ES8 is offered from 528,000 RMB for the 75 kWh variant, 586,000 RMB for the 100 kWh variant and 458,000 RMB for the BaaS variant. Deliveries to new customers will begin in June next year in China.
