The Hyundai N Vision 74 has been announced globally by the company some time ago. Now the car has made its debut in North America at the LA Auto Show.
The first impression of the car is as wild and retro-futuristic as it gets in the renderings. Taking inspiration from the Hyundai Pony Coupe concept, the automaker describes the new concept as a vision into an electrified future for the N performance sub-brand.
The Hyundai N Vision 74 is an FCEV with a hydrogen stack up front to charge the 62.4 kWh battery. The car uses independent motors which can produce a total of 670 hp (500 kW/680 PS) and 664 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.
The motors operate independently of each other to distribute power to the side of the car that needs it most.
Interestingly, the battery car used can use a conventional EV charging port or with hydrogen. It basically functions as an 85 kW generator, and its tank (which can hold 4.2 kg of hydrogen) can be refilled in just five minutes.
The Hyundai N Vision 74 concept was first unveiled in July which is positioned as the company’s future technology development laboratory. This concept is a follow-up to the hydrogen-powered N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo that was launched in 2015.
As a development of enterprise mobility technology, the concept has developed new solutions for things like overheating. The N Vision 74 requires three independent cooling channels for the battery, fuel cell and motor. The technology can efficiently manage heat and energy to ensure the car can run for as long as the driver wants.
