After being shown last March, Lotus finally launched its first electric car in the form of an SUV, namely the Eletre. In its home country, this electric SUV is priced at GBP89,500.

Lotus offers this electric SUV in three variants, namely the standard Eletre, Eletre S, and Eletre R. The standard and S variants are equipped with dual-motor, all-wheel-drive mated to a 1-speed transmission and a maximum output of 603 hp. On the other hand, the Eletre R is equipped with a 2-speed transmission and a peak power of 905 hp.

For performance, the R variant is claimed to be able to accelerate from 0-62 mph in less than 3 seconds and has a top speed of 165 mph. The standard and S variants deliver 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 160 mph.

All Eletre variants are equipped with a 112-kwh battery which Lotus says can be charged from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes when using a DC fast charger with 350-kw charging support. With this battery, the standard Eletre and S have a range of 373 miles and 304 miles for the Eletre R based on WLTP testing.

The Eletre is based on a modular electric car platform called the Electric Premium Architecture. At 200.9 inches long, the Eletre is noticeably longer than the Range Rover and closer to the size of some luxury sedans. Judging from its dimensions, it looks like the Eletre will be the closest rival to Tesla’s electric SUV, the Model X.

Lotus equips the Eletre with various features, such as air suspension, torque vector, LED matrix headlights, active grille shutters, 22-inch alloy wheels, wireless charging for mobile devices, 12-way adjustable power seats, four-zone automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 15.1-inch infotainment screen with Lotus Hyper OS operating system, and 15-speaker KEF audio system with Dolby Atmos support.
