Rolls-Royce has officially begun the transition from internal combustion engines to electric cars. The British luxury car manufacturer has launched its first electric vehicle portfolio, the Spectre.
Spectre is referred to as Phantom’s “spiritual successor” due to its very similar appearance to its counterpart. The Spectre is built on Rolls’ all-aluminum Architecture of Luxury, the automaker’s latest platform designed to use both ICE and electric powertrains.
Dimensionally, the Spectre measuring 5,453 mm / 214.7 inches long, 2,080 mm / 81.9 mm wide, and 1,559 mm / 61.4 inches high has an attractive visual appearance.
Technical specifications haven’t been revealed yet, but the Spectre is expected to accelerate from 0-60MPH in 4.4 seconds and reach an EPA range of 260 miles. It’s not a special number, but the emphasis is on the luxury of a pampered trip.
The luxury of travel can be found in the interior design that includes the mandatory instrument and infotainment displays, plus a digital fascia for passengers.
The interior design comes in bespoke Rolls-Royce design language, customers can also ask the company to customize the color of the on-screen dial. The “Eleanor” assistant can handle tasks in the car, and the Whispers app can send location recommendations and remotely control basic car functions such as locks and heating.
The Spectre prototype carried out more than 2.5 million kilometers of testing, which the automaker says is enough to ensure it not only delivers the desired level of comfort, but is also reliable.
The Spectre is available to order now, with first deliveries expected in the fourth quarter of 2023. You’ll have to take a deep breath to find out the price. The Spectre starts at $413,500 in the US. The thing to keep in mind is that prior to the customization process, it means the customer has to spend more to get the design, right down to the color of the signature umbrella on the door.
