Volta Trucks has just announced that it has completed the first trial phase of its Volta Zero electric truck operating directly on urban streets and real-life distribution environments in the City of Paris, France.
In this trial, the Swedish environmentally friendly commercial vehicle manufacturer has completed it with one of the leading logistics and land transportation service providers from Germany, DB Schenker.
Previously, in 2021, Volta Trucks and DB Schenker had entered into a strategic partnership by placing an order for around 1,500 units of Volta Zero electric trucks, which is the largest order for medium-duty electric trucks in Europe to date.
“When we announced the largest electric truck order in Europe with DB Schenker, we were also forging a partnership to work together to decarbonize urban logistics,” said Essa Al-Saleh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volta Trucks. /2022).
Essa continued that the first use of the Volta Zero electric truck in this real-world test environment was a significant testament to the depth of collaboration between the two leading companies.
“Seeing Volta Zero vehicles operating on the streets of Paris is exciting and a great forerunner for us to be delivering large volumes of customer trucks on a massive scale in the near future,” he said.
Meanwhile, Cyrille Bonjean, DB Schenker’s Executive Vice President of Land Transport in Europe said that since the beginning of its partnership with Volta Trucks, DB Schenker has maintained close contact and continues to drive the development of future vehicles together.
“It’s great to see the results live on the streets of Paris. It all started with an idea and is now becoming a reality and we hope to add this future vehicle to the fleet in Europe in early 2023,” he explained.
It is planned that Volta Trucks and DB Schenkcer will jointly explore the potential use of the technology to expand its offerings by initiating the rollout of a 16-ton Volta Zero fleet at 10 locations in five European countries.
A little information, this Volta Zero truck is equipped with an electric battery with a capacity of 150-220 kWh. The mileage of this truck can reach 150-200 km and is able to go at full speed up to 90 kph.
