The Hyundai Ioniq 6 has officially made its global debut. This electric sedan by Hyundai is called the “Streamliner” using the modular E-GMP platform which is also used by the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 will be available with “various drive motors and battery packs,” in various trim levels and variants.
One thing that Hyundai is most proud of from this electric sedan is the range that reaches 610 kilometers. This range is achieved using a single motor, rear-wheel drive powertrain and a long-range 77.4 kWh battery.
Hyundai claims the RWD model will also be one of the most efficient EVs on the market today, with a consumption of 14 kWh/100 km.
The long-range battery model is equipped with a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive powertrain, which can deliver up to 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque and accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds.
The Ioniq 6 supports both 400V and 800V charging infrastructure, with 800V charging as standard. Support for this charging option is the same as that of the Ioniq5.
Today’s electric cars are like running computers enabling over-the-air updates to various vehicle modules, giving the Ioniq 6 many upgrade options over time.
The Ioniq 6 has a 2,905-mm wheelbase, which is nearly identical to the Porsche Taycan’s, and an overall length of 4,855mm. From its dimensions, the Ioniq 6 is technically a midsize sedan, although it sits lower and is wider than many traditional four-door cars.
In terms of interior, Hyundai describes the Ioniq 6 as a “cocoon-like personal space” designed by Hyundai’s main interior designer, Thomas Schemera. The Ioniq 6’s cab comes with spacious rear seats, a free-floating dashboard and adjustable ambient lighting.
Two separate 12-inch monitors serve as the centerpiece of the cab and come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Other features that we can get from this Hyundai electric sedan are the standard advanced driver assistance systems including the Hyundai Highway Driving Assist system, along with adaptive cruise control, forward collision avoidance, high beam assist and intelligent speed limit assist, and Distance Intelligent Parking Assistance. Far, among many more.
The Ioniq 6 with certain trim levels will be equipped with Evasive Steering Assist and other more advanced collision avoidance systems.
The Ioniq 6 comes in twelve exterior colors since launch, including Gravity Gold Matte, Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Curated Silver Metallic, Nocturne Gray Metallic, Nocturne Gray Matte, Transmission Blue Pearl, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Ultimate Red Metallic, Pearl Green Digital, Matte Green Digital, and Blue Byte.
