Tesla plans to suspend most production at the Shanghai Giga for two weeks to work on site upgrades.

The suspension of production will take place in early July, according to an internal memo in a Reuters report.

Following the site upgrade, Tesla is targeting an increase in production output with the goal of producing 22,000 electric vehicles per week in Shanghai, according to the memo.

Previously, Giga Shanghai also suspended production of Tesla electric vehicles due to the COVID-19 lockdown in Shanghai. After the lockdown was eased, Giga Shnaghai has been producing 17,000 Model 3 and Model Y cars per week since mid-June, according to an earlier memo seen by Reuters.

At the Qatar Economic Forum, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said he had problems with raw materials and the ability to increase production.

Electric vehicle production at the Shanghai Giga is on track to decline from the first quarter of this year due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
