GAC Toyota has filed a recall plan with China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), covering 121,260 locally produced electric vehicles due to potential hardware and software defects.
The recall involves three groups of vehicles: 100,175 Toyota bZ3X units and 21,085 Toyota bZ7 units. The identified issues affect the front suspension stabilizer links, comfort parking function and front recognition camera software.
Toyota bZ3X Recall Covers Suspension Components
The largest group comprises 100,175 Toyota bZ3X vehicles manufactured between February 27, 2025, and March 26, 2026.
According to the recall notice, a design issue may prevent the nuts securing the front suspension stabilizer links from generating sufficient clamping force. Continued use could cause the nuts to loosen, potentially producing abnormal noises.
In extreme cases, the nuts could detach, affecting vehicle stability and creating a safety risk.
GAC Toyota will replace the affected nuts with improved versions free of charge.
Toyota bZ7 Recall Addresses Braking Software
The first Toyota bZ7 recall covers 18,130 vehicles manufactured between October 28, 2025, and August 3, 2026.
A software control issue affecting the comfort parking function could limit braking force under certain low-speed driving conditions. This may increase stopping distances and the risk of a collision.
GAC Toyota will provide a free software update to address the issue.
Second bZ7 Recall Involves Steering Assistance
A separate recall affects 2,955 Toyota bZ7 vehicles manufactured between March 10 and May 15, 2026.
The issue involves the front recognition camera software, which may develop abnormalities during over-the-air (OTA) updates.
The defect could also cause unintended steering wheel movements when the integrated cruise assist function is activated, potentially creating a safety risk.
GAC Toyota will provide a free software upgrade for the front recognition camera.
Recall Covers More Than 121,000 Vehicles
The three recall groups bring the total number of affected vehicles to 121,260. The remedies include replacement of suspension hardware and software upgrades for the affected vehicle functions.
The recall covers vehicles produced by GAC Toyota in China and involves both the bZ3X and bZ7 electric vehicle models.
