Polestar has introduced two new subscription tiers for its Polestar Charge public charging service in Europe, giving customers access to discounted charging rates at selected fast-charging networks for a monthly fee.
The Plus and Pro tariffs are designed for drivers who regularly use public fast-charging infrastructure. In Germany, the Plus subscription costs €7.99 per month and provides a 15% discount at EnBW, Shell Recharge, Vattenfall, Mer and Fastned. The Pro subscription costs €14.99 per month and increases the discount to 30%, while also adding Ionity and Allego to the participating networks.
Polestar Expands Discounted Charging Access
Polestar says Plus customers can access more than 104,000 discounted charging points across Europe, while Pro subscribers have access to more than 118,000.
The company said the figures represent increases of 26% and 43%, respectively, compared with its previous subscription offering.
In Germany, Plus customers can use more than 14,000 discounted charging points, while Pro customers have access to more than 17,000. According to Polestar, those figures are 32% and 64% higher than under the previous offering.
Polestar Charge Reaches 1.25 Million Charging Points
The broader Polestar Charge roaming network now provides access to more than 1.25 million public charging points across Europe, including participating Tesla Supercharger locations.
Customers can access the network through their Polestar account using the company’s app or a charging card. Plug & Charge is also available for compatible vehicles.
Polestar Charge was launched in 2024 in cooperation with Plugsurfing, initially providing access to more than 650,000 public charging points across Europe. Tesla Supercharger locations were included from the beginning where available to Polestar customers.
The expansion to more than 1.25 million charging points has nearly doubled the network’s reach since its launch.
New Subscriptions Follow Plugsurfing Strategy
The new subscription structure follows Plugsurfing’s broader focus on subscription-based charging services. The company has been developing models that combine discounted charging across multiple charging point operators.
Plugsurfing has also pursued direct connections with charging point operators, with the aim of improving commercial terms and allowing charging offers to be configured for automotive manufacturers.
Polestar Charge is included with the purchase of a new Polestar vehicle and is also available through the company’s used-car programme. Charging locations within the network can also be incorporated into route planning through Google Maps.
Subscription Value Depends on Charging Frequency
The relative value of the Plus and Pro plans depends on how frequently a driver uses participating fast-charging networks.
The Plus plan is positioned toward drivers with occasional fast-charging requirements, while the Pro plan offers a higher discount for customers who charge more frequently. Drivers would need to offset the monthly subscription cost through discounted charging to make the higher-priced plans financially beneficial.
Polestar said the service recorded 161,000 charging sessions between June and August 2026.
The charging expansion comes as Polestar works to strengthen its overall customer offering. The company reported stagnant global sales in the first half of 2026 and subsequently lowered its full-year growth forecast to a low- to mid-single-digit percentage range.
