Lexus announced its plans regarding its future electric car models. Where, this Toyota luxury car brand has a different plan compared to other car manufacturers.
This Lexus electric car plan will present many SUV models. The Lexus UX is the manufacturer’s first electric car variant, followed by the recently revealed RZ 450e using the platform from the Toyota e-TNGA.
“We are clearly working on an alternative body type that offers not only a wider range of vehicles but also fulfills the growth ambitions we have for the European market,” said Spiros Fotinos, Director of Lexus Europe and EV Planning.

Fotinos also refers to the variety of concept cars revealed in December 2021 and shows a four-door sedan, a five-door crossover, and a two-door convertible. In addition, there is also an electric-powered supercar dubbed the successor to the LFA and a large SUV.
Talking about the e-TNGA architecture sourced from Toyota will support many of the models mentioned above. Fotinos calls it a great starting point, but he also reveals that Lexus is actively looking for other opportunities.

It’s true that despite the e-TNGA’s scalability, Lexus needed another architecture for high-performance models like supercars or larger premium models like future flagship sedans and SUVs to compete with rivals like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. This can be achieved by future collaborations with other automakers, helping to reduce development costs and remain competitive.
Lexus has plans to become a dedicated BEV brand in Europe, North America, and China by 2030, and globally by 2035.
