Nissan has surpassed 1.25 million electrified vehicle sales in Europe, marking a milestone as the Japanese automaker broadens its range of electric and hybrid models to meet increasing demand for low-emission transportation.
The total includes nearly 350,000 battery-electric vehicles, reflecting the company’s continued investment in electrification across the European market.
Expanded Electrified Portfolio
Nissan said its current lineup represents the broadest range of electrified vehicles it has offered in Europe.
The portfolio now includes the all-new MICRA electric vehicle, the third-generation LEAF, the updated Ariya, and the refreshed X-Trail equipped with Nissan’s e-POWER hybrid technology.
The vehicles were recently showcased to European media during a ride-and-drive event in Barcelona, where the company highlighted how its various electrified powertrain options are intended to address different customer driving requirements.
Later this year, Nissan plans to add an A-segment electric vehicle to its European range, followed by an all-electric version of the JUKE in early 2027. The additions will expand the company’s lineup to four fully electric passenger vehicles available in the region.
Strategy Focuses on Customer Choice
Clíodhna Lyons, Region Vice President for Product and Services Planning at Nissan AMIEO, said the company is focusing on offering multiple electrified technologies to accommodate varying customer needs.
“The customer is at the heart of everything we do so we are excited to offer electrified options to suit all needs.”
She said customers are adopting electrification at different speeds, prompting Nissan to invest across several powertrain technologies.
“Whether choosing a 100% EV, our unique e-POWER technology or one of our hybrid models, our goal is the same: to give customers the confidence and freedom to choose the electrified vehicle that best suits their lifestyle while supporting Europe’s transition towards an increasingly electrified future.”
Nissan said its long-term European strategy centers on providing a wider selection of electrified vehicles across different market segments and price points, combining battery-electric models with hybrid technologies to broaden consumer choice.
European Demand for Electrified Vehicles Continues to Grow
The company’s expansion comes as demand for electrified vehicles continues to increase across Europe.
According to figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), electrified vehicles—including battery-electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid models—accounted for 61.3% of all new passenger car registrations in the European Union during 2025, compared with 51.7% a year earlier.
ACEA data also showed that hybrid vehicles became the largest individual powertrain category in Europe last year, representing 34.5% of new vehicle registrations and overtaking petrol-powered models.
With its expanding range of electric and hybrid vehicles, Nissan aims to strengthen its position in Europe’s evolving automotive market as consumers increasingly shift toward electrified mobility.
