Audi has revealed new details about its upcoming A2 e-tron, confirming that the compact electric hatchback will start at €38,200 and that all four powertrain variants will be available to order immediately following its world premiere this autumn.
The announcement comes alongside new prototype images that provide one of the clearest looks yet at the production-ready design of Audi’s new entry-level electric model.
Compact EV Takes Shape
The latest prototypes reveal styling cues inspired by the original Audi A2, including an elongated roofline and a rear window divided by an integrated spoiler.

The vehicle also features slim winglet-style door handles on both the front and rear doors, while the front fascia adopts narrow daytime running lights positioned above the primary headlamp units.
Audi appears to have omitted a conventional rear window wiper, further emphasizing the model’s aerodynamic design.
Four Powertrain Options Available at Launch
Audi confirmed that the A2 e-tron will be offered with four electric power outputs:
- 125 kW
- 140 kW
- 170 kW
- 240 kW
According to the company, every powertrain variant will be available for customers to configure immediately after the vehicle’s global debut later this year.
The most efficient version is expected to consume as little as 13.0 kWh per 100 kilometers (WLTP) while delivering a maximum driving range of up to 649 kilometers, placing the model among the most efficient electric vehicles in the compact segment.

Audi has not yet disclosed battery capacities or maximum DC fast-charging speeds.
Testing Continues Before Launch
Development of the A2 e-tron remains underway ahead of its market introduction.
Audi has conducted cold-weather testing in Lapland to evaluate battery performance, thermal management and driving dynamics under extreme conditions.
Additional validation has included wind tunnel testing to optimize aerodynamics, as well as public-road testing focused on suspension tuning and advanced driver assistance systems.
Positioned Below the Q4 e-tron
The A2 e-tron is expected to share much of its underlying technology with other Volkswagen Group compact electric vehicles, including the Volkswagen ID.3 Neo and Cupra Born, although Audi has not officially confirmed the platform architecture.
Reports suggesting battery capacities between 50 kWh and 79 kWh and DC charging rates of up to 183 kW remain unconfirmed.
The entry-level 125 kW version will include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, and a rear-view camera as standard.

Models equipped with the 140 kW powertrain and above will additionally receive heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
Production of the A2 e-tron will take place at Audi’s Ingolstadt plant in Germany. Once launched, the model will become the most affordable electric vehicle in Audi’s lineup, positioned below the Q4 e-tron while targeting buyers in the compact EV segment.
