Geely Galaxy has filed the Cruiser 700 sport utility vehicle with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), completing a key regulatory step ahead of the model’s planned launch in China later this year.
The Cruiser 700 appeared in the latest batch of new vehicle filings released by the ministry on July 10. The filing includes three plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variants.
Three Plug-In Hybrid Variants Listed
According to the filing, the Cruiser 700 measures 5,085 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,912 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. Depending on the configuration, vehicle height is listed at 1,895 mm, 1,912 mm or 1,925 mm.
One variant is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing a maximum output of 160 kilowatts and a net output of 155 kW. The model has a listed top speed of 220 kilometers per hour and is approved to tow trailers with a gross mass of up to 1,600 kilograms.
The other two variants use a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 120 kW, with a maximum net output of 115 kW and a listed top speed of 200 km/h.
All three versions use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs fitted with battery cells supplied by CATL.
The filing shows the lineup is equipped with a 47.14-kilowatt-hour battery, providing all-electric driving ranges of 165 kilometers, 170 kilometers or 185 kilometers, depending on the variant.
Off-Road Design and Technology
The Cruiser 700 features a box-shaped exterior design with a full-width daytime running light, illuminated front brand badge, vertically oriented rear lamps, a side-opening tailgate and an externally mounted spare wheel.
Regulatory images also show a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor positioned above the windshield, indicating the model will be available with advanced driver-assistance technologies.
Geely Galaxy has previously said the Cruiser 700 will feature a tri-motor all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid system and differential locks. The company has also stated the model will offer a combined system output of 830 kilowatts, along with an 800-millimeter wading depth and satellite communication capability.
Expanding Presence in the Off-Road SUV Segment
The Cruiser 700 will become Geely Galaxy’s first rugged off-road SUV as Chinese automakers continue to expand their offerings in the segment.
Manufacturers including BYD and Great Wall Motor have already introduced several electrified off-road models to the domestic market.
Geely Galaxy reported sales of 108,206 vehicles in June, up 19.9% from a year earlier and 32.4% higher than in May, according to company data.
Vehicles included in MIIT’s public filing process typically move closer to commercial launch after completing regulatory approval, although Geely Galaxy has not announced a specific launch date for the Cruiser 700.
