Xpeng has opened pre-sales for the Mona L03, the first sport utility vehicle in its Mona lineup, ahead of the model’s official launch in China on July 16 as the company expands its product portfolio and targets younger buyers.
At a launch event in Beijing, Xpeng announced six variants of the Mona L03 with pre-sale prices ranging from 143,800 yuan (approximately US$21,200) to 165,800 yuan.
The company describes the vehicle as a smart and stylish SUV designed for first-time car buyers and younger consumers. Following its China launch, the Mona L03 is scheduled to make its global debut in Europe.
Dual Powertrain Options
The Mona L03 continues Xpeng’s strategy of offering both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.
The fully electric model offers CLTC driving ranges of 525 kilometers and 625 kilometers, with energy consumption of 11.9 kWh per 100 kilometers. The quickest version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.6 seconds and supports 3C fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in 19.1 minutes.
The extended-range version provides a combined CLTC range of up to 1,330 kilometers, including 315 kilometers of pure electric driving, while recording WLTC combined fuel consumption of 5.16 liters per 100 kilometers.
AI-Powered Driving Technology
Advanced driver assistance is one of the Mona L03’s key features.
Every version comes equipped with Xpeng’s in-house developed Turing AI chip.
The Max variants use a single chip delivering 750 TOPS of computing power and feature a distilled version of Xpeng’s second-generation Vision-Language-Action (VLA) assisted driving system.
The higher-end Ultra SE versions feature dual Turing chips providing 1,500 TOPS of computing power and support the full second-generation VLA platform.
By offering flagship-level computing capability in a vehicle priced around 150,000 yuan, Xpeng aims to raise technology standards in the mass-market electric SUV segment.
Design and Interior
The Mona L03 was created by a global design team led by JuanMa Lopez, a former Ferrari exterior designer. The SUV features a streamlined fastback profile with a drag coefficient of 0.228.
The vehicle measures 4,650 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,600 mm high, with a 2,850 mm wheelbase.
Inside, the cabin includes a 15.6-inch 2.5K central touchscreen, a 26.8-inch W-HUD head-up display, a 20-speaker AI audio system, and a front passenger zero-gravity seat equipped with 14-point massage functionality.
The hatchback-style cargo area provides 539 liters of luggage space, expanding to 1,640 liters with the rear seats folded. The SUV also includes a 102-liter front trunk and supports 6 kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) external power output.
Xpeng also introduced a special ROAM Edition, developed with brand ambassador Ouyang Nana, to further strengthen the model’s appeal among younger consumers.
Expanding the Mona Family
The Mona L03 becomes the second model in Xpeng’s Mona series after the M03 sedan.
Under Xpeng’s naming convention, the letter M represents sedans while L denotes SUVs, together forming the name “Mona Lisa.”
The company hopes the L03 can build on the success of the M03, which delivered 175,689 vehicles in 2025 and accounted for 40.91% of Xpeng’s total deliveries that year.
Although M03 deliveries slowed during the first five months of 2026, totaling 48,291 units, Xpeng’s overall sales have recently recovered. The automaker delivered 40,126 vehicles in June, marking its strongest monthly performance of the year and ending five consecutive months of year-over-year delivery declines.
