Fuuse has appointed Roger Hunter as its new chief executive officer, with the electric vehicle charge point management system (CPMS) provider preparing for a leadership transition as founder Michael Gibson steps down later this year.
Hunter will officially succeed Gibson on September 1 following a handover period. The appointment comes as Fuuse seeks to build on its growth in the UK’s electric vehicle charging market and expand its position as a provider of charge point management software.
Industry Veteran Takes Leadership Role
Hunter joins Fuuse with extensive experience across the electric vehicle charging and e-mobility sectors.
Most recently, he served as Global Vice President of E-Mobility at Shell, where he led Shell Recharge Solutions. He also serves as an independent non-executive director at Ignitis, one of the largest charge point operators in the Baltic region, and previously held responsibility for global EV charging operations at BorgWarner.
“I am delighted to be joining Fuuse at such a pivotal moment,” Hunter said.
“Fuuse is the leading CPMS in the UK with a reputation for excellence and I look forward to building on those strong foundations to support the company’s next stage of growth.”
“The EV charging market is entering a critical phase of maturation, and Fuuse is exceptionally well-positioned to lead it.”
Founder Steps Down After Decade at Helm
Gibson founded the business in 2016 as a data analytics company before launching the Fuuse platform in 2021.
Under his leadership, the company expanded rapidly within the EV charging sector and secured multiple funding rounds, including an £8.7 million Series A financing completed in May 2024.
Fuuse said Hunter and Gibson will work together during a transition period before the formal leadership handover takes place.
“Roger’s experience is outstanding and I am confident Fuuse will be in the very best of hands,” Gibson said.
“Over the past decade we have built one of the UK’s fastest-growing tech companies, won a roster of clients that includes hundreds of household names, and become one of the UK’s most influential companies in the EV charging sector.”
“I leave immensely proud of what the team has achieved – and confident this will only get stronger.”
Board Backs Leadership Transition
Fuuse Chairman Paul Brennan said the transition had been carefully planned and reflected the company’s readiness for its next phase of development.
“This is a transition that Michael planned thoughtfully and on his own terms – a testament to the leader he is,” Brennan said.
“He has built an exceptional business, and the board is deeply grateful for his commitment and vision.”
“We are equally delighted to welcome Roger, who brings deep experience across the global EV industry, a clear-eyed view of where the market is heading, and the leadership credentials to take Fuuse further still.”
The appointment comes as the EV charging industry continues to expand across the UK and Europe, with software platforms playing an increasingly important role in managing charging networks, supporting fleet operators and enabling large-scale deployment of charging infrastructure.
