Bojangles has opened its first electric vehicle charging station at its restaurant location on Ogeechee Road in Savannah, Georgia, introducing what the company calls a “charge-and-dine” experience.
The Savannah site marks the first step in a broader initiative to install EV charging infrastructure at Bojangles restaurants across the United States.
The project was developed in partnership with XLR8 America and Energy and Environmental Design Services.
Bojangles said the initiative is designed to transform charging stops into a hospitality-focused experience where EV drivers can recharge both their vehicles and themselves during charging sessions.
Richard Del Valle, Chief Information Officer at Bojangles, said the company sees changing driver behaviour and EV adoption as an opportunity to redefine roadside dining experiences.
“Driving trends are changing, and so are the expectations that come with them,” Del Valle said.
“With EV charging, time becomes an asset. We’re turning that stop into something meaningful: a chance to relax, refuel and enjoy a true Bojangles experience,” he added.
The company said future charging locations will include both Level 2 and Level 3 charging systems, with targeted uptime exceeding 97%.
Bojangles plans to expand the charging network across key markets nationwide as part of a broader strategy combining food service, convenience and sustainable mobility infrastructure.
XLR8 America Chief Executive Frank O’Connor said the partnership reflects a broader shift toward integrating charging infrastructure into destinations where drivers already spend time.
“When a driver pulls in for a Bo-Berry Biscuit and their battery tops off while they dine, that’s not a coincidence — that’s the charge-and-dine experience made real,” O’Connor said.
Bojangles said the move positions the restaurant chain at the intersection of mobility, hospitality and sustainability as EV adoption continues to grow across the United States.
The initiative also reflects a wider trend among retailers and restaurant operators adding EV charging infrastructure to attract customers and support longer on-site visits.
