Stellantis and Qualcomm Technologies have expanded their multi-year technology partnership, with Stellantis planning to integrate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis system-on-chips across its vehicle portfolio.
The companies said the expanded collaboration will cover cockpit systems, connectivity features and advanced driver-assistance systems, including deployment of the Snapdragon Ride Pilot platform for Level 2+ hands-free automated driving functions.
Under the agreement, Snapdragon Digital Chassis technology will be integrated with STLA Brain, Stellantis’ electronic and software architecture platform designed to support software-defined vehicles across the automaker’s brands.
The companies also signed a non-binding letter of intent under which aiMotive could join Qualcomm Technologies, subject to certain conditions.
Stellantis said the expanded partnership is intended to support faster deployment of vehicle features and lower development costs through platform standardization across its global product portfolio.
“By deploying this intelligent platform across our global portfolio, Stellantis is delivering on that promise with unprecedented speed and efficiency,” said Ned Curic, chief engineering and technology officer at Stellantis.
Qualcomm said the Snapdragon Ride Pilot platform is designed to scale from active safety technologies to Level 2+ hands-free driving capabilities.
“This expansion reflects the scale and depth of what Qualcomm and Stellantis have built together, a relationship that spans connectivity, digital cockpit and now ADAS and automated driving,” said Nakul Duggal, executive vice president and group general manager for automotive, industrial and embedded IoT at Qualcomm Technologies.
The agreement further expands Qualcomm’s role in software-defined vehicle platforms as automakers increasingly adopt centralized computing architectures and advanced driver-assistance technologies.
