Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has launched the updated 2026 Mona M03 sedan with enhanced configurations while keeping its starting price unchanged, as it aims to strengthen the appeal of its highest-volume model.
The company introduced the model at an event on Thursday, pricing it between 119,800 yuan ($17,380) and 151,800 yuan. The sedan is offered in six configurations, with the top-end Ultra SE variant scheduled to begin deliveries in August 2026, while other versions will be delivered earlier.
Most variants of the updated Mona M03 are equipped with Xpeng’s in-house developed Turing AI chip, marking the company’s first deployment of high-computing smart driving chips in vehicles priced below $20,000. Some versions carry a single chip delivering 750 TOPS of computing power, while higher trims feature dual chips, reflecting Xpeng’s strategy to improve margins through hardware and software integration.
“The introduction of the Turing chip into our highest-volume model aligns with our broader strategy to enhance product competitiveness and profitability,” Xpeng management said during its March 23 earnings call.
The Mona M03 remains central to Xpeng’s sales performance. The model delivered 175,689 units in 2025, accounting for about 40.9% of total deliveries. In the first two months of 2026, it continued to lead deliveries, contributing more than 31% of the total. Monthly figures for March specific to the model have not yet been disclosed.
Overall, Xpeng reported delivering 27,415 vehicles in March, up 79.70% from February, highlighting continued momentum in its sales growth.
In terms of product upgrades, the 2026 Mona M03 increases its maximum driving range to 640 km from 620 km while maintaining the same battery capacity. The vehicle also features improved ride quality through adaptive damping shock absorbers.
Interior and cockpit enhancements include the MT8676 chip and the Tianji AIOS 6.0 system. The company has also repositioned the wireless charging pad to the front and increased its output to 50W.
The update comes as Xpeng continues to expand the deployment of its proprietary technologies across its lineup amid intensifying competition in China’s EV market.
The company recently reported its first net profit since inception, marking a financial turning point. It posted a GAAP net profit of 380 million yuan ($50 million) in the fourth quarter of 2025, compared with a net loss of 1.33 billion yuan a year earlier. On a non-GAAP basis, net profit reached 510 million yuan, versus a loss of 1.39 billion yuan in the same period of 2024.
