BYD has launched the Song Ultra EV, equipping the mid-size electric SUV with its second-generation Blade Battery and high-speed flash charging technology as standard across all variants.
The BYD Song Ultra EV starts at 151,900 yuan ($21,980), below its earlier presale price of 155,000 yuan, as the company intensifies competition in China’s crowded EV market.

The model measures 4,850 mm in length with a 2,840 mm wheelbase and is offered with two driving range options of 605 km and 710 km under CLTC conditions. It is powered by a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 270 kW, with a top speed of 210 km/h.
A key feature of the vehicle is its ultra-fast charging capability. BYD said the battery can be charged from 10% to 70% in approximately five minutes under standard conditions, while reaching 97% charge takes about nine minutes. Even in temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius, charging time increases only slightly.

The Song Ultra EV also comes equipped with BYD’s DiSus-C intelligent damping control system and a flat tire stabilization system designed to maintain control at speeds of up to 140 km/h.
The vehicle integrates 27 sensors to support advanced driver assistance features, including urban navigation and automated parking functions, reflecting the company’s focus on intelligent driving technologies.
The model is positioned to compete with rivals such as the Leapmotor C11 and Xpeng G6 in China’s mid-size EV segment.
