BMW has begun handing over the first units of its new BMW iX3 to customers in Germany, ahead of the model’s official pan-European market launch scheduled for March 7.
The battery-electric mid-size SUV, which will be available at BMW dealerships across Europe from that date, has already been delivered to a small group of customers at an event held at BMW World in Munich, the company said. Among the first recipients were German actors Kostja Ullmann and Christoph Maria Herbst, as well as model and long-time BMW brand ambassador Lena Gercke.

Unveiled in September, the iX3 is the first production model based on BMW’s new Neue Klasse architecture and is seen as a cornerstone of the carmaker’s electrification strategy. Series production began in October at BMW’s new factory in Debrecen, marking the start of a new generation of electric vehicles for the group.
BMW has said customer demand for the model has been strong despite the fact that, until now, buyers have been placing so-called “blind orders” without the opportunity for test drives. “Customer interest in the BMW iX3 has been overwhelming from the start,” sales chief Jochen Goller said at the Munich handover event. “Since its world premiere at the IAA in September 2025, every third battery-electric BMW vehicle ordered in Europe has been an iX3.”

Goller added that the strong order intake had prompted BMW to accelerate the production ramp-up at the Debrecen plant and introduce a second production shift earlier than originally planned.
From March 7, the iX3 will be available across Europe for showroom viewing, test drives and new orders. Pricing starts at €68,900 for the BMW iX3 50 xDrive, with additional variants expected to follow at a later stage.

Depending on specification, the iX3 offers a driving range of up to 805 km under the WLTP standard from a 108 kWh battery pack. The model uses an 800-volt electrical system and supports DC fast charging at up to 400 kW, allowing a charge from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes. It also features bidirectional charging capability and a new digital architecture built around four high-performance control computers.
BMW has said the iX3 and the Neue Klasse platform are intended to set new benchmarks for efficiency, charging performance and software integration as the group expands its electric vehicle lineup across global markets.
