The AION V electric SUV from GAC AION has secured dual five-star safety ratings from both European and Australasian crash assessment bodies, alongside a series of industry awards across key international markets, the company said.
The AION V achieved the highest possible safety ratings from Euro NCAP and ANCAP, following tests covering adult occupant protection, child safety, vulnerable road users and advanced driver assistance systems. Five stars represent the top tier under both evaluation programmes.

In Australia, the electric SUV was named a finalist in the Drive Car of the Year 2026 awards, competing in the Best Electric Vehicle Under A$60,000 category. The recognition places the model among a small group of EVs assessed for value, safety and usability in the local market.
The AION V has also gained traction across Southeast Asia. In Singapore, it was named CAT A Electric SUV of the Year 2025 and received a Ready For Adventure award, while in Indonesia it was recognised as both the Most Popular Electric Vehicle and an Eco-Friendly & Advanced-Technology SUV Icon, reflecting growing consumer adoption in the region.

In China, the model has received several domestic industry honours, including the 2025 Golden Wheel Intelligent Pioneer Award and a Most Promising Model of 2024 designation, based on a combination of expert evaluation and user data analysis. Additional recognition highlighted the vehicle’s intelligent driving features and positioning in the fast-growing electric SUV segment.
GAC AION said the range of awards underscores the AION V’s performance across safety, intelligent technology and market acceptance, as Chinese electric vehicle brands continue to expand their footprint in international markets.
