Changan Mazda said it plans to introduce the Mazda CX-6e electric SUV to Australia and New Zealand later this year, extending the global rollout of the model beyond Europe as the automaker expands its electric vehicle portfolio.
The CX-6e is the international version of Changan Mazda’s EZ-60, which made its global debut at the Brussels auto show in January. The model will enter the European market this summer before being launched in Australia and New Zealand, the joint venture said on Tuesday.

Changan Mazda, a partnership between China’s Changan Automobile and Japan’s Mazda Motor, is leveraging China’s electric vehicle supply chain and technology base to support overseas expansion. The CX-6e will become the second new energy vehicle from the joint venture to be offered globally, following the Mazda 6e electric sedan.
“The CX-6e combines the efficiency and performance customers expect and will help accelerate our electrification strategy,” said Martijn ten Brink, president and chief executive of Mazda Europe, adding that the model would also support the company’s emissions reduction targets.

In China, the EZ-60 mid-size SUV has been on sale since September with both extended-range electric and battery-electric variants. The fully electric version is 4,850 mm long and uses a 77.94-kilowatt-hour lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering a range of up to 600 kilometres under China’s CLTC test cycle.
Changan Mazda said its first global electric model, the Mazda 6e, has recorded more than 7,000 cumulative sales since its European launch last September. The company has not yet disclosed detailed specifications, pricing or launch dates for the CX-6e in Australia and New Zealand.
