Kia’s PV5 electric van has secured a series of international awards for safety, design and efficiency during its first year on the market, underlining the company’s ambitions in the electric light commercial vehicle segment.
The PV5, Kia’s first dedicated all-electric Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV), was named 2026 International Van of the Year, becoming the first Korean and Asian electric vehicle to receive the title. The award was decided unanimously by a jury of 26 commercial vehicle journalists, who cited the model’s modular architecture and real-world efficiency.

In safety testing, the PV5 achieved a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP 2025 Commercial Van Safety Assessment. Evaluators highlighted the performance of the vehicle’s standard advanced driver assistance systems, including autonomous emergency braking, lane support functions and intelligent speed assistance based on camera and map data.
The model has also been recognised for efficiency. The PV5 Cargo set a Guinness World Records title for the longest distance driven by a fully loaded electric van on a single charge, covering 693.38 kilometres on public roads near Frankfurt. The run was completed using the 71.2 kWh long-range battery variant while carrying the vehicle’s maximum authorised payload.
Kia said the awards validate the flexibility of its E-GMP.S platform, which underpins the PV5 range across cargo, passenger and chassis-cab configurations. The platform is designed to support modular body styles and customer-specific adaptations for fleet and business use.
