Electrify America has been named to Inc.’s Best in Business list in the Best in Innovation category for its nationwide deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS), a strategy aimed at supporting high-speed electric vehicle charging in locations with limited grid capacity.
The recognition highlights the company’s rollout of large-scale energy storage to enable consistent ultra-fast charging where traditional electrical infrastructure would otherwise restrict power delivery. Electrify America has installed more than 170 BESS units across the United States, providing over 65,000 kilowatt-hours of cumulative storage capacity.
The storage systems allow energy to be drawn from the grid during low-demand periods and released during peak charging times. This approach helps stabilise local electricity networks and enables the deployment of 350-kilowatt fast chargers even in grid-constrained regions, the company said.
“Smart energy solutions can provide more charging access for more drivers,” said Rob Barrosa, president and chief executive of Electrify America. “Our BESS deployment is one example of how we pair innovation with practical challenges on the ground.”
One of the largest examples of the storage strategy is located in Baker, California, along the heavily travelled Los Angeles–Las Vegas corridor. The site integrates 1.5 megawatts of battery storage with solar generation and advanced power controls to support up to 12 ultra-fast chargers at full output.
Inc. said its Best in Business awards recognise companies that have delivered measurable business and industry impact over the past year. The programme is open to organisations of all sizes and ownership structures, with winners selected by Inc.’s editorial team based on innovation, execution and market influence.
