Chery Automobile’s premium brand Exeed has officially launched the ET5 mid-size sport utility vehicle in China, positioning the extended-range electric model at younger family buyers with a reduced effective starting price following brand subsidies.
The Exeed ET5 is offered in two variants, with official list prices of 144,900 yuan and 159,900 yuan. A 10,000-yuan trade-in subsidy lowers the effective entry price to 134,900 yuan ($19,070) for the base version, representing a reduction of 25,000 yuan from the pre-sales price announced earlier this month. The model was unveiled earlier this year at the 2025 Chengdu auto show and entered pre-sales on Nov. 13.

The ET5 enters one of China’s most competitive segments and will compete with models including BYD’s Song Plus DM-i, Leapmotor’s C11 and the Deepal S7. In the Chinese market, the “ET5” name is widely associated with Nio’s mid-size electric sedan, although Exeed said the designation reflects its own branding concept of “Enjoy Time,” aligned with its family-oriented positioning.
The Exeed ET5 measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width and 1,720 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. It is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine used solely as a range extender, with a maximum output of 115 kW. The vehicle features rear-wheel drive with a single electric motor producing peak power of 195 kW and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.

The SUV is equipped with a 32.66 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by Gotion High-tech, providing a CLTC-rated pure electric range of 210 km. With a full fuel tank and fully charged battery, the ET5 offers a combined CLTC driving range of up to 1,310 km.
The ET5 is also the first production model to adopt Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6P chip and HSD (Horizon SuperDrive) smart driving system, delivering 560 TOPS of computing power. The higher-priced variant is equipped with a LiDAR sensor, while the entry-level version relies on a camera-based solution.

Exeed is continuing to expand its ET product lineup. Regulatory filings published on Nov. 10 show the brand is preparing a larger ET7 SUV. The broader Sterrea range already includes the Sterrea ET and Sterrea ES models as the brand strengthens its presence in China’s premium new energy vehicle market.
