China’s BYD has produced 10,000 vehicles at its new factory in Camacari, Bahia, just four months after formally starting operation on July 1, underscoring the automaker’s rapid production ramp-up in Brazil, one of its key overseas growth markets.
The Camacari plant currently assembles three models: the all-electric Dolphin Mini hatchback, known as the Seagull in China, the plug-in hybrid King sedan and the Song Pro crossover. The factory has a current annual production capacity of 150,000 units, with long-term plans to expand output to as many as 600,000 vehicles per year.

The production milestone was reached on Nov. 25, according to local auto publication Car Blog. To support higher volumes, BYD has introduced a second production shift at the facility, adding about 120 workers to a newly launched night shift, a move aimed at accelerating output growth.
BYD has positioned the Camacari site as its largest manufacturing complex outside China. The company also operates an overseas plant in Uzbekistan with a current annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles and a long-term target of 500,000, while its Thailand factory is designed to produce up to 150,000 vehicles per year.

Sales data highlight BYD’s expanding footprint in Brazil. From January through September 2025, the company sold 89,380 vehicles in the country, comprising 54,256 plug-in hybrids and 35,124 fully electric cars. Its Brazilian lineup currently spans 12 models, including the Dolphin, Seal, Han, Atto 3, Dolphin Mini, King and Song Pro.
Looking ahead, BYD plans to introduce higher-end models to the Brazilian market. The automaker is preparing to launch the Denza B5 off-road plug-in hybrid SUV next month at an estimated price of 436,000 reais ($80,980). The Denza Z9 GT and the D9 minivan are also scheduled for future market entry as BYD broadens its premium offering in Latin America.
