Tesla CEO Elon Musk said the company’s next Full Self-Driving (FSD) software update, version 14.3, will deliver a significant breakthrough only hours after the automaker began rolling out FSD v14.2 to owners. “The last big piece of the puzzle finally lands,” Musk remarked, hinting at a substantial advancement in the company’s long-running autonomous-driving program.
Tesla’s latest release, FSD v14.2, follows the v14.1.x series, with many owners transitioning directly from v14.1.7 — previously the most refined build — to the new version. Drivers reported that v14.2 resolved several long-standing issues, including hesitation at intersections and so-called “brake stabbing,” where the vehicle abruptly tapped the brakes when evaluating cross-traffic.

In previous updates, brake-related hesitation was among the most common frustrations, particularly at four-way stop intersections. Early tests of v14.2 indicated the issue no longer appeared during extended drives. Some owners also noted what felt like a more relaxed driver-monitoring system, though the feature remains subject to local laws restricting phone use behind the wheel.

Industry observers say the improvements suggest Tesla is progressing toward a more seamless and consistent FSD experience, with Musk’s comments implying the next update may further reduce driver intervention requirements. The company has not specified a release timeline for FSD v14.3, which arrives shortly after v14.2’s deployment to Early Access Program members. Given the rapid rollout of the 14.x family — v14.1 reached owners only weeks ago — the new update may arrive as part of Tesla’s Holiday Update or in a standalone release before year-end.
