GAC Group and Alibaba Cloud have agreed to expand their collaboration into full-stack artificial intelligence, signing a new strategic cooperation pact on November 14.
The initiative pairs GAC Group’s automotive manufacturing capabilities with Alibaba Cloud’s AI and cloud computing resources to build next-generation digital infrastructure for the auto industry and advance the use of AI across vehicle development, production, services, and daily operations.
Under the agreement, GAC Group will adopt Alibaba Cloud’s infrastructure and Qwen-series large language models to develop an AI-based operating system covering the entire value chain, including R&D, factory operations, sales activities, internal management systems, and customer-facing services.
The partnership also includes broader use of Alibaba Cloud’s high-performance computing and flexible architecture to support key business units, migrate more internal systems to the cloud, expand development of advanced driver assistance and smart-cockpit functions, and enhance connected-vehicle capabilities for global markets.
GAC Group plans to further integrate Qwen-series large models into its business processes, exploring tools such as multimodal cockpit interaction, AI-assisted sales and after-sales applications, and improved business-intelligence platforms.
The objective is to increase efficiency across engineering and operations while enhancing in-vehicle intelligence for end users. Chairman Feng Xingya said the companies intend to deepen cooperation in areas including global cloud deployment, large-model development, cloud-based ADAS engineering, mass-production workflows, and future smart-cockpit technologies.
The two firms first began working together in 2021. Earlier this year, GAC Group said it was strengthening its partnerships with both Alibaba Cloud and Huawei as part of a broader push toward “data + AI” transformation and to support its overseas strategy.
With the latest agreement, Alibaba Cloud is expected to play a growing role in GAC Group’s international expansion, supporting digital infrastructure abroad, cloud-based connected-vehicle platforms, global supply-chain systems, and payment solutions, while the cooperation now extends into comprehensive AI development for domestic and overseas operations.
