BYD’s premium brand Denza has postponed its planned European market debut to the first quarter of 2026, pushing back its original end-2025 timeline. The brand’s entry marks the Chinese automaker’s move into Europe’s high-end electric vehicle segment, with prices expected to start at €75,000, according to a report by Handelsblatt.
Initially announced in June, Denza’s European rollout will include the Z9 GT, a luxury shooting brake measuring nearly 5.2 meters in length, and the D9, a seven-seater premium van. Both models will be offered in all-electric and plug-in hybrid versions, targeting competitors such as Nio, Xpeng, and established European marques Audi, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW.

The Denza Z9 GT, already on sale in China since September 2024, delivers a combined output of 710 kW (965 hp) from three electric motors, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 3.4 seconds. It supports ‘Flash’ ultra-fast charging up to 1,000 kW and offers a CLTC range of up to 630 kilometers from its 100-kWh battery. The plug-in hybrid version combines a 200-kW combustion engine with two 220-kW electric motors and a 38.5-kWh battery, achieving a total range of 1,101 kilometers.
Denza’s D9 luxury van will accompany the Z9 GT at launch. The all-electric version provides a range of up to 600 kilometers (NEDC) from a 103-kWh LFP battery and delivers 275 kW of combined output, accelerating from 0 to 100 kph in 6.9 seconds.

The company is also preparing to introduce the B5 plug-in hybrid SUV in the second half of 2026, followed by a sports car under the “Z” label. “We aim to establish Denza quickly in the European luxury segment with a strong dealer network and premium customer experience,” said Klaus Hartmann, Denza’s European head and former Mercedes-Benz executive.
BYD plans to develop around 60 dealership locations across Europe to support Denza’s launch. In the longer term, the company intends to expand the lineup to eight model series and gradually introduce more affordable variants, while keeping its entry-level models priced from about €75,000, positioning Denza firmly within Europe’s premium EV market.
