Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng is preparing an extended-range version of its G6 SUV, the G6 EREV, according to a filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The regulatory documents provide specifications ahead of the model’s expected market introduction later this year.
The G6 EREV will feature a 55.8 kWh battery pack capable of delivering 325 km of electric-only range under WTLC standards. A 1.5-litre turbocharged internal-combustion engine manufactured by Dong’an Powertrain, producing 110 kW, will serve as a range extender, paired with a 218 kW rear-axle electric motor.

In terms of dimensions, the extended-range model matches the battery-electric G6, measuring 4,771 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm. The top speed is listed at 202 km/h. Exterior styling largely mirrors the standard G6 fastback SUV, including a sloped front end, integrated headlights, a continuous LED daytime running light strip, retractable door handles, and a streamlined roofline. Wheel options include R18 and R20 sizes.

The MIIT filing positions the G6 EREV within Xpeng’s Kunpeng Super Electric System strategy, targeting extended-range daily EV usability. While the filing confirms electric-only range, total combined range with the range-extender engine was not specified, though prior reports indicate some EREV variants could reach up to 1,400 km. The smaller 55.8 kWh battery compared with the BEV G6 likely supports weight reduction and packaging efficiency for the range-extender system.

The G6 EREV is undergoing regulatory approval, with pricing yet to be announced. The standard BEV G6 currently starts at 176,800 yuan ($24,830). Real-world performance, including charging times and range under typical driving conditions, will need to be evaluated following the model’s launch.
