Audi has introduced the Audi Urbansphere concept electric car technology virtually (19/4). The Audi Urbansphere is the third electric concept car in the Sphere lineup alongside the Skysphere and Grandsphere.
Well, different from the Skysphere and Grandsphere, the Urbansphere is designed as a candidate for an electric MPV specifically for the Chinese market.
“To meet the demands of our customers in China, Audi design studios in Beijing and Ingolstadt are collaborating to develop the Audi Urbansphere,” said Markus Duesmann, Chairman of the Board Management Audi AG.
Urbansphere is designed as a luxury MPV for China’s large urban areas known for heavy traffic. Audi said that the Urbansphere offers a spacious interior space for activities when in traffic jams.
If you look at the dimensions, the Audi Urbansphere has a large body with a length of 5,510 mm, a width of 2,010 mm, and a height of 1,780 mm. The Urbansphere’s large body combines with a wheelbase that is no less long at 3,400 mm.
Of course with these dimensions, Audi created a spacious interior with four individual seats that offer the ultimate in luxury and comfort. Not to mention that the rear seats can be reclined up to 60 degrees in Relax or Entertain mode.
Regarding features, Urbansphere offers many features that are no less sophisticated than other Sphere concept cars.
For example, it is equipped with Level 4 autonomous steering, air suspension, a transparent OLED rear monitor or Cinema Screen, and a full glass roof.
The Audi Urbansphere was developed from the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) platform with two all-wheel-drive electric motors. The two electric motors can produce 295 kW or 401 hp and 690 Nm of peak torque.
For the battery, Urbansphere is equipped with a Lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 120 kWh which is claimed to be able to cover a distance of 750 kilometers according to the standards of the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure.
