Nio said it has delivered more than 10,000 units of its third-generation ES8 SUV, achieving the milestone 40 days after the model’s official market debut.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker said the new ES8 is the fastest pure-electric vehicle priced above RMB 400,000 ($56,200) in China to reach 10,000 deliveries. The milestone underscores Nio’s growing presence in the high-end EV segment, which continues to see robust demand despite increasing competition.

Nio launched the third-generation ES8 at Nio Day 2025 on September 20, with deliveries beginning the next day. The model is available in three variants — the six-seat and seven-seat Executive Luxury Editions starting at RMB 406,800, and the six-seat Executive Signature Edition priced at RMB 446,800. Under the company’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) subscription plan, starting prices drop to RMB 298,800–338,800, with a monthly 100-kWh battery rental fee of RMB 1,128.
According to Nio, more than 30% of new ES8 buyers are customers switching from traditional luxury brands. “In September, pure-electric large three-row SUVs outperformed their extended-range and plug-in hybrid counterparts in China,” said William Li, Nio’s founder, chairman, and CEO, in a post on Weibo.

Li said the company’s production capacity for the new ES8 has already exceeded 40,000 units, with all units sold out within two days of launch. New customers may now face delivery wait times until April 2026.
During its September earnings call, Nio said the ES8’s monthly production capacity would reach 10,000 units in October and 15,000 by December. To accelerate deliveries, the automaker announced on September 29 that it would prioritize 100-kWh battery pack supply for ES8 production over battery swap stations. Customers receiving deliveries by December 31 will receive a RMB 400 charging subsidy.
