Tesla said owners in Australia and New Zealand have driven more than 1 million kilometres using its Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised system since its rollout earlier this month, underscoring strong uptake in the smaller right-hand-drive markets.
According to Tesla Australia & New Zealand, drivers are covering the equivalent of “67 laps around the continent of Australia or 625 trips from Auckland to Invercargill” with FSD engaged. On a daily basis, owners are logging about 83,200 km (51,700 miles), the company said on social media platform X.
The rapid adoption is notable as access to FSD Supervised in the region is restricted to Teslas equipped with the latest Hardware 4 (HW4/AI4) systems, introduced from mid to late 2023.
Customers with earlier Hardware 3 (HW3/AI3) vehicles who purchased the FSD package years ago remain locked out of the feature, leading to frustration as Tesla has not provided a clear upgrade timeline.
The milestone suggests strong curiosity among local drivers and highlights the level of trust being placed in Tesla’s AI-driven features, despite the relatively small fleet size compared with larger markets.
