Dreame Technology, a Chinese company best known for its robot vacuum cleaners, has taken another step in its automotive push less than a month after announcing its entry into vehicle manufacturing.
The company’s EV division launched its official Weibo account this week, posting a rendering of its first electric model and revealing partial specifications. The design features coach doors supported by seven patents, a hidden B-pillar structure, and use of 2,000 MPa aerospace-grade steel, enabling body torsional stiffness above 45,000 Nm/deg. A prototype is expected to debut at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the United States.
Dreame announced on August 28 that it would manufacture cars, a rare move amid China’s stricter auto licensing regime. Its debut vehicle will be an ultra-luxury pure-electric model intended to rival the Bugatti Veyron, targeted for release in 2027. The company has also considered Brandenburg, Germany, as a potential production site to tap into the local supply chain.
Local media outlet Sina Tech reported that Dreame will operate under two brands: Dreame Auto, focused on Bugatti-level models with BEV and extended-range options, and Star Auto, targeting the Rolls-Royce Cullinan and Bentley segments. Star Auto’s first model, the D9, will be offered in four trims – Standard, Pro, Max, and Ultra – with prices ranging from RMB 269,900 ($37,960) to RMB 589,900.
