Chinese electric vehicle maker Leapmotor (HKG: 9863) shared camouflaged images of its upcoming Lafa 5 hatchback, set to debut at the Munich auto show on September 8.
Xu Jun, senior vice president and COO of Leapmotor, posted two photos on Weibo showing the Lafa 5 covered in camouflage wraps. The coupe is aimed at younger consumers worldwide and features a wide body and sporty stance, according to Xu.

The Lafa 5 will compete in China’s crowded electric hatchback segment against vehicles including the Volkswagen ID.3, SAIC MG4, BYD Dolphin, and Nio Firefly EV. Leapmotor’s current lineup in China includes the T03, B10, B01, C01, C10, C11, and C16 models, with the T03, B01, and B10 offered exclusively as battery electric vehicles, while others also provide extended-range variants.
The model follows Leapmotor’s strong delivery performance in August, when the company reported 57,066 vehicles sold. This marked the fourth consecutive month of record-high deliveries, representing an 88.3% year-on-year increase and a 13.8% rise from July.
The launch of the Lafa 5 highlights Leapmotor’s continued expansion in the electric vehicle market, reinforcing its presence in the competitive NEV segment in China and abroad.
