A Rivian R1T owner has shared frustrations over recurring service problems, offering a glimpse into the difficulties that can accompany buying from a relatively new automaker.
The customer’s account, detailed in two Reddit posts, described initial excitement followed by disappointment when the truck’s screens went dark and refused to reset, rendering the vehicle inoperable. “I love this truck, it’s amazing,” the owner wrote, “but these damn problems that keep popping up are making it hard to keep loving.”
After being towed, the R1T underwent repairs that included a 12-volt battery replacement, a faulty AXM module swap, and coolant flushing. However, further issues appeared almost immediately. The owner reported that Apple CarPlay had stopped functioning, the driver’s traffic visualization system was disabled, and features such as “smart turn signals” were inconsistent. “This isn’t fun guys, I’m seriously about to give up on this truck,” the follow-up post read.
This isn't fun anymore…

While such service setbacks are not exclusive to Rivian, the electric truck manufacturer is still developing its service network, unlike legacy automakers such as Ford Motor, General Motors and Toyota, which have decades of experience and established dealer infrastructure.
Other commenters on the thread shared similar stories, with one noting they had required service visits between 10 to 15 times in just two years. Despite the frustrations, the original poster concluded that the R1T still feels like the right choice—when functioning as intended.
