General Motors said all of its future electric vehicles will come with a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port beginning with the 2026 Cadillac Optiq, and confirmed that the next-generation Chevrolet Bolt due in 2027 will also feature the connector.
In the meantime, the company has launched four new charging adapters to support current owners of Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC electric vehicles. “These new adapters help ensure that every customer can navigate this transition,” GM said in a statement. The products include NACS-to-CCS and CCS-to-NACS units, as well as adapters that allow connection to GM’s Level 2 PowerShift home charger and enable vehicle-to-home (V2H) functions.

GM said the adapters are primarily aimed at giving its customers access to Tesla’s Supercharger network, and build on the NACS DC adapter it introduced last year. “While it may seem like a lot, the new adapters are really just designed to help current owners get the best charging experience while GM works to add native NACS ports to all its upcoming EVs,” the automaker added.
The company compared the transition to other consumer technology shifts, citing the adoption of USB-C in smartphones and laptops and the HDMI standard for TVs. GM sold over 46,000 electric vehicles in the second quarter and said Chevrolet, helped by the launch of the Equinox EV, had become the fastest-growing EV brand in the U.S. earlier this year. The company has marketed the Equinox EV as “America’s most affordable 315+ range EV.”
