MOKE International said it has appointed Lorne Vary as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Nick English, as the British heritage marque seeks to expand globally and scale production of its all-electric MOKE.
Vary previously held senior roles at Brompton Bicycle, where he helped grow the company from a small UK-based manufacturer into a global lifestyle brand. His appointment comes as MOKE looks to enhance its direct-to-consumer strategy and reinforce its identity as a premium open-air motoring company.
Nick English, co-founder of Bremont Watches, is stepping down as Executive Chairman after 18 months in the role. During his tenure, MOKE became the first heritage automotive brand to go fully electric and opened a production facility in Leamington Spa, England. English will remain involved in the business as he focuses on other ventures.
Originally developed in the 1960s by Mini creator Sir Alec Issigonis, the MOKE evolved from a military utility vehicle into a leisure icon associated with destinations such as the French Riviera and the Caribbean. The company launched its Electric MOKE in 2023, maintaining the car’s vintage styling while introducing modern powertrain technology.
Commenting on his new role, Vary said: “MOKE blends heritage, innovation, fun, and lifestyle effortlessly. I am thrilled to work with our talented team to scale production and bring joy to drivers worldwide.”
