Xpeng said its new P7 electric sedan completed a 24-hour endurance test, covering 3,961 kilometers and setting a new record for the longest distance traveled by an electric vehicle in a single day.
The test was conducted in Changchun, Jilin province, in northeastern China between 9:02 a.m. on Aug. 14 and 9:02 a.m. on Aug. 15. The vehicle drove continuously at 210 kilometers per hour, including time spent charging.
Xpeng noted that the test verified the robustness of the P7’s core system capabilities. The endurance run was delayed by one day due to heavy rain and fog, which impacted track conditions.
The record surpasses the 3,944 kilometers achieved by Xiaomi’s YU7 electric SUV in a similar 24-hour challenge in late June. Previous vehicles in this test have included the Porsche Taycan, which traveled 3,425 kilometers in 2019, and the Mercedes-Benz CLA, which reached 3,717 kilometers in 2024.
Xpeng debuted the new P7 and began pre-sales of the electric sedan on Aug. 6, with the company targeting the RMB 300,000 ($41,780) market. Images shared by Xpeng indicate that the new-generation P7 will include a variant with scissor doors, continuing a design feature from its predecessor.
