Chinese automaker Wuling said it has produced its 1.7 millionth Hongguang Mini EV, maintaining its position as the best-selling vehicle in the country’s A00-class small electric segment for 60 consecutive months.
The company said one unit is sold every two minutes, with the model amassing 1,986 patents since its launch in July 2020 at the Chengdu Auto Show. Cumulative sales exceeded 554,000 units in 2022, 237,863 in 2023, and 1.4 million in 2024.
The Hongguang Mini EV lineup now includes the third-generation model, a five-door variant, the Game Boy edition, the Cabrio, and the Classic edition. Wuling has also introduced limited versions in collaboration with brands and games such as Yili Ranch, Capybara Go!, Eggy Party, and Boonie Bears.
In July, the company rolled out trade-in subsidies starting at 36,800 yuan ($5,120), with combined national and local incentives reaching up to 20,000 yuan ($2,780). The five-door model, introduced in February, starts at 48,000 yuan ($6,200) and features a 30 kW rear electric motor paired with a 16.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery.
The vehicle has a top speed of 100 km/h and a CLTC range of 205 km. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes about 35 minutes, while slow charging from 20% to 100% requires 4.8 hours. The model measures 3,256 mm in length, 1,510 mm in width, and 1,578 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,190 mm and a curb weight of 780 kg.
