Turkish electric vehicle manufacturer Karsan has secured new contracts to supply a total of 42 e-ATA electric buses to the Romanian cities of Chitila and Focșani. Each city will receive 21 units of the 10-meter-long electric model, with deliveries expected to take place in 2026.
The new orders will bring the number of Karsan electric buses operating in Chitila to 44 and in Focșani to 47. The addition of the e-ATA 10 models will contribute to ongoing efforts by local authorities to modernize and decarbonize public transport networks.
The e-ATA 10 is a low-floor electric bus classified under the M3 category. It features a 250 kW electric motor, an LFP battery with up to 396 kWh capacity, and a maximum range of 350 kilometers. Charging time is listed at approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes using a DC plug-in charger. The bus has a top speed of 80 km/h and can carry up to 79 passengers.
Karsan, headquartered in Bursa, Turkey, said it now has 380 electric buses in operation across more than 40 Romanian cities. The company’s local distributor, Anadolu Automobile Rom (AAR), has played a key role in expanding its market share in Romania.
“We have already taken the first steps of the electric public transportation transformation in the cities of Chitila and Focșani in Romania together,” said Karsan CEO Okan Baş. “Today, we are delighted to be signing new contracts as a sign of the satisfaction created by our successful projects. The interest in and high satisfaction with our vehicles paves the way for new agreements.”
