AEye, a developer of high-performance lidar technology, has announced the launch and initial deployment of OPTIS™, a physical AI platform designed to deliver high-resolution, real-time 3D perception. The system, powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Orin, is intended for applications across transportation, safety, and infrastructure monitoring.
OPTIS™ integrates AEye’s Apollo lidar sensor with embedded computing to form what the company describes as a complete autonomous system. It is designed to provide long-range object detection—up to one kilometer—while supporting rapid decision-making in complex environments. According to AEye, the platform enables operational flexibility through a software-defined architecture, which may help reduce upgrade complexity and lower total cost of ownership.
“OPTIS™ is the natural evolution of our technology,” said AEye CEO Matt Fisch. “It builds on the strengths of Apollo to deliver something more powerful: a system that can be tailored to customer needs without requiring costly or time-intensive hardware changes. Powered by NVIDIA’s Jetson Orin, OPTIS™ stands out as a best-in-class solution.”
The company reports active field deployments of OPTIS™ in areas such as airport safety, perimeter monitoring, and transportation logistics. AEye is also collaborating with select partners to open its platform to developers, allowing for third-party AI integration. The firm estimates the addressable market for its solution to be over $50 billion.
AEye plans to showcase the OPTIS™ platform at the upcoming ITS World Congress in Atlanta, where it will demonstrate its use in enhancing intelligent infrastructure.
