BYD is set to release its latest SUV, the Sealion 06, on July 24, offering both plug-in hybrid and battery electric options, according to a report by local automotive outlet Auto Home. The launch will expand the Sealion family and strengthen BYD’s position in China’s competitive new energy vehicle (NEV) market.
The new Sealion 06 lineup includes the Sealion 06 DM-i, equipped with BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid system, and the fully electric Sealion 06 EV, built on the company’s upgraded e-Platform 3.0 Evo. Both platforms were introduced in May 2024 as core technologies underpinning BYD’s latest vehicle rollouts.

Auto Home previously reported that the Sealion 06 is expected to be priced between RMB 160,000 and RMB 200,000 ($22,300–$27,900). Regulatory filings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology show the SUV’s dimensions at 4,810 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm — making it larger than the existing Sealion 05 model.
The Sealion 06 EV will offer single- and dual-motor variants. The single-motor versions deliver peak outputs of 170 kW or 180 kW, while the dual-motor version combines a 110 kW front motor with a 180 kW rear motor. Battery options include 65.28 kWh and 78.72 kWh packs, enabling driving ranges of 520 km, 550 km, and 605 km, depending on the configuration.
