U.S.-based electric vehicle charging company Blink Charging has announced its readiness to assist customers affected by the shutdown of EVBox’s Everon business across Europe and North America. The move follows EVBox’s decision to cease operations of both its software platform Everon and its AC charging product line, raising questions for charging hosts and drivers relying on the infrastructure.
EVBox has directed its Everon users to Blink as a recommended alternative provider. Blink has responded by offering continuity services ranging from ongoing network management to hardware replacements. “EVBox has played a significant role in the growth of EV charging infrastructure across the UK and Mainland Europe, and we recognize the trust hosts have placed in its solutions,” said Alex Calnan, Blink Charging’s managing director of Europe.
“With the recent announcement of Everon’s withdrawal from the EV charging market, it’s natural to have questions about what this means for operations. At Blink, we want to assure Everon customers that we are here to help them navigate this transition,” Calnan added.
Blink says it will offer access to its network portal via the Blink Charging app, providing real-time charger monitoring, usage insights, pricing control, and performance reporting. The company also notes that chargers are currently in stock and ready to ship to customers needing immediate replacements.
EVBox’s shutdown follows an announcement in October 2024 by French utility Engie, which revealed plans to liquidate the EVBox Group after reporting cumulative losses of €800 million since its acquisition in 2017. EVBox is closing its operations in the Netherlands, Germany, and the United States.
