GSM, the electric mobility subsidiary of Vietnam’s Vingroup, has signed an agreement to supply 1,300 VinFast electric vehicles to CK Vietnam, including 300 electric buses and 1,000 electric cars, the company said on Thursday. The deal marks one of the largest EV supply agreements in the country to date, aiming to support cleaner public and commercial transportation between Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces.
GSM said the 300 electric buses are equipped with onboard Wi-Fi, active monitoring systems, and smart journey notification boards. While the specific models were not disclosed, GSM is expected to use the VinBus medium-sized buses, which can carry up to 72 passengers and offer a range between 220 to 260 kilometres. CK Vietnam plans to begin deploying the buses as early as the third quarter of 2025.
In addition to public transit, CK Vietnam will also operate 1,000 VinFast electric cars for commercial transport. These include models such as the VinFast Limo Green for intercity journeys, the Herio Green small SUV for budget ride-hailing services, and the EC Van for intra-city deliveries.
“This is not only a commercial transaction, but a strategic step in the process of greening traffic nationwide,” said Nguyen Van Thanh, General Director of GSM Global. “We believe that when each province boldly transforms, Vietnam will get closer to the goal of sustainable development.”
To support the expanded EV fleet, V-Green—Vingroup’s electric charging network unit—has announced plans to install 1,000 charging points across the two provinces. These will be located in commercial areas, transportation hubs, residential zones, and along economic corridors to ensure sufficient coverage.
