Antonio Filosa has officially assumed his role as Chief Executive Officer of Stellantis, succeeding Carlos Tavares, who stepped down in December. As his first act in the top job, the former Jeep and North America chief has unveiled a new leadership team to guide the group through a period of transition and restructuring.
“It is my great privilege to take the lead of Stellantis, a global company with deep regional roots,” Filosa said in a statement. “We have unique strengths in our great people, our iconic brands and our millions of customers, whose loyalty […] can only inspire us to new achievements.”
The 52-year-old Italian executive brings over two decades of experience at Fiat and Stellantis, including recent leadership of Jeep and responsibility for operations across the Americas. His appointment follows a long internal selection process and comes at a time when the company is confronting declining production in Italy, challenges related to the electric vehicle transition, and growing trade-related headwinds from the United States.
Filosa’s newly announced Stellantis Leadership Team (SLT) includes 13 members, designed to decentralize decision-making and leverage regional market insights. Notably, Jean-Philippe Imparato will now oversee both Enlarged Europe and the Maserati brand, while Emanuele Cappellano takes over South America and commercial vehicle operations under Stellantis Pro One. Monica Genovese steps into the role of Chief Purchasing Officer.
Former CPO Maxime Picat is no longer part of the leadership team and is widely tipped as a leading candidate to become CEO of Renault. According to media reports, Renault chief Luca de Meo is expected to leave the post to head luxury group Kering. Another departure from the SLT is Béatrice Foucher, previously Executive VP for Planning and Programmes.
“As we move into this next chapter of our Stellantis history, I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to Maxime Picat and to Béatrice Foucher for their notable contributions,” Filosa said, adding, “We all wish them the best in their future endeavours.”
