Italian car manufacturer Maserati unveiled its new Grecale sport utility vehicle (SUV) on Tuesday, 22 March. This marks their step in expanding their reach and part of a strategy towards an era of electrification.
The launch was originally planned for November last year. But Grecale’s launch was delayed due to a global chip shortage.
Maserati, which is in the Stellantis group, said that Grecale will be available in the second half of this year. This car will be available in three versions. Two four-cylinder mild hybrid cars with a performance of 300 and 330 horsepower. Then, a high-performance hybrid car with 530 power using a V6 engine. The car is claimed to be able to reach a top speed of 285 kilometers per hour.
Maserati Chief Executive Davide Grasso said deliveries of the first cars to customers will begin in the summer for the EMEA region and will soon follow in the United States.
The Grecale has a length of 4,859 meters and a selling price ranging from around 74,000 to 111,000 euros. The Grecale will compete with other car models in its class such as the Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes GLE, BMW X5 and Land Rover Discovery.
While the electric car version of the Grecale will be available next year. This electric car will later become a new and potential competitor for Tesla and other manufacturers who have begun to transform into the era of electrification.

The Grecale will be produced at the Cassino Stellantis plant, in central Italy. Maserati plans to offer a full-electric version of every model they have produced. This includes MC20 worth more than 200,000 euros by 2025.
Maserati will fully produce electric vehicles by 2030. The first generation of battery electric vehicles (BEV) is the GranTurismo, which will debut before the Grecale in 2023.
