Truck manufacturer from the United States (US) Mack Trucks has introduced a new generation of battery electric truck Mack LR Electric. The truck, which was designed as a waste or garbage collection vehicle, is now available for special order in the US market.
This Mack LR Electric battery electric truck is a class 8 truck that combines strength, reliability and durability with zero emissions exhaust and offers customers a more sustainable truck option.
Scott Barraclough, Senior Product Manager of Mack e-Mobility, said that the new generation Mack LR Electric is claimed to deliver 42% more energy than the previous model with a total battery capacity of 376 kWh which offers further range.

“Mack continues to invest in e-mobility, and we are pleased that this next-generation LR Electric further enhances our offering,” he said on his official website.
The electric motor of this truck is also claimed to be able to produce power of 448 hp and peak torque of 5,492 Nm. The motor is integrated into a two-speed Mack Powershift transmission and the truck maker’s 46,000-lb S462R.
The electric dump truck is also powered by four batteries which also provide all the power for each onboard accessory, driven via 12V, 24V and 600V circuits.
The two-stage regenerative braking system helps to re-energize the hundreds of stops the vehicle makes each day with increasing load.
Mack also says his company has dealers in California, Idaho and Montreal, Quebec, and more working to achieve EV Certification status.

Mack and Mack Financial Services have also introduced the Mack Vehicle-as-a-Service (VaaS) program to help customers better manage the purchasing process of Mack LR Electric models.
This VaaS includes a vehicle chassis, garbage agency, applicable taxes, and a comprehensive vehicle protection plan. Eligible customers have the option to combine the charger and associated installation costs into a single invoice.
“Our dealers are also EV certified, so customers will have the same level of service and support they expect from Mack and its extensive dealer network,” explains Scott Barraclough.
For your information, Mack has manufactured the LR Electric at its Lehigh Valley Operations facility in Macungie, PA, USA, where all Mack Class 8 vehicles for North America and exports are assembled at the facility.
Each Mack LR Electric model will be equipped with a copper Bulldog hood ornament to symbolize the vehicle’s battery-electric powertrain technology.
