Tesla, the US-based electric vehicle manufacturer, is planning to expand its presence in Israel by setting up a large sales and service center in the industrial zone of Netanya.
The company has signed a lease on a privately-owned property, which spans five dunams and is located at 39-41 Hakadar Street in north Netanya, close to the sales and service center of Chinese electric vehicle brand Geely Geometry. The property has 3,300 square meters of built space and building rights for commerce and offices.
The new center will include Tesla’s first permanent showroom in Israel and a bodywork and paint workshop that will replace its small garage next to the current management headquarters in Kiryat Aryeh.
Previously, Tesla has delivered a total of 10,000 of their electric vehicles to Israel. The 10,000th delivery will occur on November 15, 2022. The first deliveries of Tesla’s electric vehicles in Israel started in early 2021. At that time, the first shipment of Model 3s from Fremont arrived at the Port of Ashdod in February. Since then, Tesla has been delivering regular Model 3s from Fremont and then Giga Shanghai arriving in the country in the following months.
Tesla has relied on sub-contractor Shagrir for repair and roadside services in Israel. However, as sales have increased, the demand for service and parts has put pressure on the company’s network. The launch of new vehicle brands in Israel in recent years has also led to a rise in demand for showrooms in major cities.
Tesla did not confirm the opening date or any other rumours from the Globes story.
