2024 Hyundai Kona Electric: A Closer Look at the Stunning New Design

Hyundai has finally lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated electric version of its popular Kona model. Joining its ICE and hybrid siblings, the new Kona Electric boasts a unique and modern styling that sets it apart from other vehicles on the market.

What sets the Kona Electric apart from its predecessors is its larger size – it’s 15 cm longer than the outgoing model. The electric version also features the Light Pixels that we’ve seen in the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, which give the vehicle a distinctive appearance. There are decorative pixels in the front bumper and LED pixels wrapping around the front and rear of the car, making it easily identifiable.

In addition to its unique styling, the Kona Electric features color-coded wheel arches, less aggressive bumpers focused on aerodynamic efficiency, and exclusive five-spoke alloy wheels. The front charging port is also retained, ensuring that owners can easily charge their vehicle without the hassle of finding a charger at the wrong side of the car.

Inside, the Kona Electric is a significant upgrade from its predecessor. Dual 12.3-inch screens and climate control buttons are featured under the center screen, while the interior is larger and can comfortably fit three large suitcases. The car comes with heated seats in the front, standard dual-zone climate control, and a wireless charging pad in the center console.

There are also plenty of ADAS functions, including satnav-assisted cruise control and assisted driving on highways, as well as USB-C sockets in the front and back. While more details about the Kona Electric will be released in March, it is expected to share many components with the Kia Niro EV, including a 204 hp electric motor powering the front wheels and a 64.8 kWh battery pack. With a similar range of 463 km on the WLTP, the Kona Electric is sure to be a popular choice for environmentally conscious car buyers.
